A woman died Tuesday after falling from a building at the Russian trade representative's office in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

The office called for an ambulance just after 2 p.m. The woman was taken to a hospital where she died of her injuries, which included a fractured skull.

The woman is believed to be a Belarusian in her 40s who was living in an eight-story residence within the trade representative's compound, according to the police.

As of Tuesday evening they had not confirmed her identity or determined the cause of the fall. A staff member from the trade office said it was an accident.

The police inspected the area where she fell, but the trade office would not let them enter the residence. The trade representative's office is affiliated with the Russian Embassy, and like the embassy has extraterritorial rights over the property.
