Three people were killed Tuesday in two traffic accidents on the Meihan Expressway in Mie Prefecture, police said.

Noriyoshi Nakatani, 45, of Tenri, Nara Prefecture, was killed at 12:10 a.m. when his truck rammed into a tanker truck that had slowed down for heavy traffic.

At around 5:50 a.m., two truck drivers were killed in a three-vehicle collision in Iga, the police said. The two were identified as Sadami Takada, 67, of Iga, and Hidemi Aramaki, 58, of Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. The highway links Tenri in Nara and Kameyama in Mie Prefecture.
