Three children were killed when the sport utility vehicle they were riding in plunged from a bridge into Hakata Bay in Fukuoka after it was rear-ended by a drunk driver Friday night.
Akio Ogami, a 33-year-old company employee, and his wife, Kaori, 29, escaped from the SUV, managing to pull out their son, Tomoaki, 3, and daughter, Saaya, 1, police said.
The two children later died despite medical aid given by rescuers.
