NAHA, Okinawa Pref. (Kyodo) U.S. military authorities have detained two service members on suspicion of involvement in a taxi robbery this month at the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Foster in Okinawa Prefecture.

The military informed the Okinawa Prefectural Police on Friday of the detentions but did not disclose the suspects' identities or where they are stationed, according to police officials.

"Law enforcement personnel from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Marine Corps Base Camp S.D. Butler Provost Marshal's Office apprehended two U.S. service members in connection with the robbery of an Okinawan taxi driver aboard Camp Foster Jan. 7," a U.S. press release said.
