A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Nagoya on suspicion of auctioning child pornography over the Internet and sending the smut to successful bidders in Japan from Thailand, according to police.
The suspect, Makoto Imayoshi, is originally from Kobe but currently lives in Bangkok, Aichi Prefectural Police said Thursday.
It is the first time someone has been arrested under the law banning the import of child porn, according to police.
Investigators said they suspected Imayoshi sent 10 DVDs containing images of a girl under 18 years old being subjected to obscene acts from Thailand on Aug. 18 to the home of a 28-year-old man in Nagoya.
