A suitcase containing a woman's body has been found in a park here, police said Monday, adding the woman died after being stabbed in the chest.
The Kanagawa Prefectural Police launched a murder investigation after an autopsy Monday revealed she died from loss of blood as a result of a wound to her right side from a sharp blade. Her upper body bore signs of bruising. Police suspect she died shortly past midnight Saturday.
The woman was aged 35 to 45 and was 159 cm tall. She was wearing jeans and a purple sweater and had no shoes, police said.
The suitcase was discovered Sunday afternoon by Yokohama city officials under fallen leaves in a thicket within the premises of the park in Tsuzuki Ward.
