A test tube containing a uranium compound solution has been found in a refrigerator discarded by the University of Tsukuba at a waste disposal facility in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Officials of the facility and the university said Sunday that two facility workers discovered a test tube containing 5 cc of the solution Saturday morning. The solution did not leak, according to the university.

The two workers suffered burns on their hands as they touched liquid hydrogen peroxide in the refrigerator just before detecting the solution.
