OSAKA (Kyodo) Unitika Ltd. said Monday that Managing Director Otofumi Onishi will become president April 1.

The current president, Masahide Hirai, will become chairman with representative rights, the textile company said.

Onishi, 61, has been involved in Unitika’s international business for a long time, and once served as head of its international operation.

“As the company is likely to resume a dividend payment next year, I have judged now is the time to pass the helm,” Hirai, 67, told a news conference.
