OSAKA (Kyodo) Sharp Corp. will continue to prioritize its liquid crystal display operations for the next decade at least, the firm's president said in a recent interview.

"Of course we are doing research for the next-generation display and we may cease LCD should we establish new technology for it," Katsuhiko Machida said. "But at least for the next 10 years, I think there will be no problem with (concentrating on) LCD."

Earlier this month, the Osaka-based electronics company said it plans to double its sales of LCD products over the next three years, with LCD items having become mainstay company products in recent years.
