CHIBA – A Chiba Prefecture woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of killing her husband and dumping his body in a pond in the city of Sodegaura, police said.
Officers found the body of Katsuhiro Masuda, 29, at the bottom of a 1-meter-deep irrigation pond at around 7 a.m.
Masuda was a public servant in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture.
Weights were used to sink the body, whose hands and feet were bound with string, police said. The victim had several stab wounds in the chest.
Police questioned Masuda’s wife, Mitsuko, 43, after receiving reports Thursday that Masuda’s car, which was parked near a Kisarazu park, was on fire.
During questioning, the woman began confessing to killing her husband and dumping his body into the pond, police alleged.
