Lactic drinks maker Calpis Co. said Wednesday it has signed a business alliance with Uni-President Enterprises Corp. of Taiwan.
Under the accord, Calpis and Taiwan Calpis Co., a wholly owned unit of Calpis, will license Calpis brands and technologies to Uni-President, a food and beverages manufacturer.
Uni-President makes chilled drinks for Calpis and sells them in Taiwan using its own sales network, Calpis said.
Uni-President holds the largest share of Taiwan's chilled beverages market. Its strength in terms of technology, production and sales will help establish Calpis brands on the island, Calpis said.
