A 44-year-old employee of the Kanagawa Prefectural Government was arrested Saturday on suspicion of stealing a cosmetics purse at a bathing facility in Yokohama, local police said.
Police identified the suspect as Hiroki Yagi, who they said works in the environment section of the prefectural administration center for the Tsukui district.
Yagi allegedly stole a cosmetics purse containing some 600 yen that was placed on a bed in the rest area of the facility at around 2:30 a.m.
Video footage from security cameras showed Yagi holding the purse and examining its contents in a separate locker room. The suspect has admitted to the allegations, police said.
