OKAYAMA – Okayama Prefectural Police said Friday they are searching for two Nagano Prefecture sisters reported missing since Thursday evening.
Akise Harune, 8, and her 5-year-old sister, Rise, had gone to the village of Nishiawakura, Okayama Prefecture, with their mother, Mariko, 36, to attend their grandfather’s funeral, according to the village office.
They went missing Thursday evening while playing near the family home, prompting relatives to call the police.
Akise is about 130 cm tall and was wearing a skin-colored sweat shirt with blue jeans when she was last seen. Rise is about 120 cm and was wearing a red dress with white stockings.
The village office said it both rained and snowed on Thursday evening. About 5 cm of snow had accumulated by the next morning.
