A Japanese fish wholesaler was shot dead Sunday morning in Mexico City, apparently by another driver after their vehicles collided.

The Japanese Embassy in Mexico identified the victim as Eisuke Mizukoshi, 33, of Takasago, Hyogo Prefecture.

The embassy said Mizukoshi was shot four times in the head and chest at around 6 a.m. by the driver of a light truck, and it appeared Mizukoshi was shot during a quarrel following the collision.

The other driver fled but left behind his vehicle. Police are trying to identify him from the license plate, the embassy said.

Mizukoshi, who had lived in Mexico for some 10 years, sold fish to local Japanese restaurants.

Mizukoshi's father, Eiryo, who lives in Hyogo Prefecture, said he planned to fly immediately to Mexico, adding he has no detailed information about the incident.
