Japan's fifth case of mad cow disease has been found in an inspection of slaughtered cows in Kanagawa Prefecture, the health ministry said Thursday.
The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said it was going to soon convene a meeting of experts to confirm the diagnosis. Mad cow was first detected in Japan last September.
The milk cow, aged 6 years and 8 months, was raised by a farmer in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture, according to the ministry.
