Trading house Marubeni Corp. said Wednesday it will open a cash-and-carry clothing wholesaler in Shanghai as soon as this fall.
The wholesale operation will be launched in collaboration with Self Corp., an Osaka-based cash-and-carry clothing wholesaler, it said.
The wholesaler will only deal with Chinese retailers that join its membership program, it said. It expects sales of 700 million yen for the first year.
Marubeni said it eventually plans to open similar wholesalers in other Chinese cities.
