A 53-year-old man was arrested Monday night for allegedly throwing beer bottles from the 12th floor of his apartment building because he was annoyed by rowdy soccer fans celebrating the day's World Cup match between Brazil and Belgium.

Nobody was hurt in the 11:15 p.m. incident because the bottles landed in a parking lot in front of the building. Police arrested the man on suspicion of destruction of property because some of the bottles hit a parked car.

Police quoted the man as saying he threw 10 bottles from his balcony because he was irritated by the noisy supporters.

The man lives near Kobe Wing Stadium, where Brazil beat Belgium 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
