KUMAMOTO – Some 310 people, most of them nursery school children, were taken ill and admitted to hospitals Saturday after eating “mochi” rice balls at an event at the school, located in the city of Kumamoto, police said.
According to hospital officials, none of the children appear to be in a serious condition, but police said they would launch an investigation to determine the cause of the apparent food poisoning.
