A Chinese woman was found slain in her Kawasaki apartment, police said Wednesday.

Liu Meiyu, a restaurant employee believed to be around 35 years old, was found dead on her bed by an assistant police inspector, who, along with other officers, visited her apartment in the city's Tama Ward around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The 45-year-old assistant inspector of the Metropolitan Police Department was a personal friend of the victim.

Liu was found handcuffed behind her back, and her hands were also tied up with a rope. She suffered apparent knife wounds to her neck and wrist, and a futon was laid over the body, police said.
