A Japan Airlines plane traveling to Fukushima from Osaka was diverted to Haneda airport in Tokyo on Tuesday after developing engine trouble, Fukushima prefectural officials said.

None of the 142 passengers on JAL Flight 833 was hurt when the plane landed at Haneda airport at around 9:20 a.m., they said.

Ninety-seven passengers were transferred to another flight some 90 minutes later and arrived at Fukushima airport at around 11:45 a.m.

The other 45 voluntarily disembarked at Haneda, the officials said.

JAL officials are investigating the cause of the problem, which was detected by an engine temperature gauge on the Boeing 767, they said.

The plane left Osaka airport at 8:20 a.m. and was originally scheduled to arrive at Fukushima at 9:25 a.m.

A return flight to Osaka from Fukushima was delayed for two hours following the incident, they said.
