Japan, South Korea and the United States are planning to hold expert-level talks early next month in Tokyo to coordinate policies regarding North Korea, a Foreign Ministry official said Wednesday.
Representatives at the director general level from the three governments will discuss the prospects of further dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang, as well as the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il to Russia, the official said.
The last expert-level meeting of the Trilateral Coordination and Oversight Group was in Honolulu in late May.
The upcoming talks will be the first since the U.S. completed its review of its policy toward North Korea in June.
