The parents of a teenage girl who died last year after allegedly being given an excessive amount of an anticancer drug, sued on Friday a Saitama Prefecture hospital and six of its officials, demanding 230 million yen in damages for their daughter's death.

According to the petition, an attending doctor at the Saitama Medical Center of Saitama Medical School in Kawagoe gave an excessive dose of medicine to 16-year-old Yuri Furudate, of Konosu in the prefecture, resulting in her death of multiple organ failure on Oct. 7.

Her parents claim that the doctor misread the prescription.

Furudate, a second-year student at a private high school, was being treated for a tumor in her chin.
