KYOTO – Six suspected arson fires broke out in Kyoto early Monday morning, police said.
At about 3:25 a.m. a fire started at the home of Ishiro Yanagi, 59, in Kyoto’s Minami Ward and destroyed the 40-sq.-meter structure, police reported.
In the vicinity of the house, five small fires broke out between 3 and 4:30 a.m. All of the blazes started at locations where fires were unlikely to erupt, police noted.
Investigators suspect a single arsonist is responsible.
