A Japanese woman killed Wednesday in a traffic accident in Cappadocia, central Turkey, has been identified as Satomi Kaneda, 22, a fourth-year engineering student at Kyoto University, school officials said Friday.

The officials also identified three other women injured in the same accident as Yui Nakamura, Mikako Koike and Nao Nishida. Kaneda and Nakamura are both from Kyoto, while Koike and Nishida are from Osaka Prefecture.

Nakamura and Koike remain in serious condition while Nishida sustained slight injuries, according to the officials.

The accident involved a collision between a truck and the small bus in which the four women were traveling at an uncontrolled intersection.

It is believed that the bus driver, who was also the tour guide, may have entered the intersection without having checked for the presence of oncoming traffic, according to Japanese diplomats in Turkey.

The women, three of whom were about to begin graduate studies at the university, were touring Turkey on a graduation trip.
