NAHA, Okinawa Pref. – The government began a three-day survey Saturday to examine the movement of dugongs in waters off the Henoko district of Nago, Okinawa Prefecture — the planned site of a new offshore civilian-military airport.
It is the government’s first survey of the rare mammals at the construction site, which covers some 50 hectares.
