A total of 526 restaurants were selected for the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2026, with 12 establishments earning the prestigious three-star status.

The 19th edition of the guide, released Thursday, also awarded 26 restaurants with two stars, and a respectable 122 with one star. The selection for the upcoming year also includes seven restaurants that earned promotions and 11 newly recognized in the one-star category.

Among the promotions, Myojaku, located in Nishiazabu and known for its refined Japanese dishes, was the sole restaurant that earned an upgrade to three stars. Nishiazabu Sushi Shin and kaiseki (multicourse Japanese haute cuisine) specialists Hakuun and Ensui all joined the two-stars club. Khao, which transforms Japanese ingredients into Thai delicacies, and Manoir, a restaurant serving light French cuisine, earned their first Michelin star.
