Tokyo-based Dutch Pianist Louis Leerink will give a recital from 7 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Lutheran Ichigaya Hall (1-1 Sadohara-cho, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). The price is ¥4,000. For reservation, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
He will also give a talk concert from 2 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Akasaka Bechstein Salon (Kokusai Shin-Akasaka Bldg. Higashi-kan [East Wing] B1F, 6-1-20 Akasaka, Minato Ward, Tokyo. Near 5a exit of Akasaka Station of the subway Chiyoda Line. Ph. 03-6441-3636). He will talk with composer Yasuhisa Tohma, on such topics as Tohma's new piece "Prelude 3," which will be played in both the recital and the talk concert, how Tohma composes tunes, and how the pianist interprets and plays musical composition.
The pieces Leerink will play in the recital at the Lutheran Ichigaya Hall will include J.S. Bach's "Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland"; Sweelinck's "Chromatic fantasia"; Schumann's "Arabesque"; Beethoven's "Piano sonata No. 31 As-dur Op. 110"; Tohma's "Prelude 3"; Rachmaninov's "Vocalise"; and Ravel's "La valse" (4-hands, with Satomi Haruyama). Tohma's piece, written at Leerink's commission, will be played for the first time in the recital.
