Businessmen and women will have an easier chance to peruse some of the best art galleries in Tokyo's Ginza district this week, as 25 of the establishments extend their opening hours for an event dubbed "Garo no Yakai" ("Gallery Night Party").

Some of Ginza's top galleries — including Western art specialists Nichido Gallery and Gallery Taménaga, nihonga (Japanese style paintings) dealers Shukado, and contemporary art connoisseurs Tokyo Gallery, Shiseido Gallery and Kobayashi Gallery — will stay open until 9 p.m. on Friday and until 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Galleries in Ginza tend to close at 7 p.m. on weekdays.

For those not accustomed to the Ginza gallery circuit, five separate tours will be held from 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. on Friday night. To participate, please book through the Garo no Yakai website.

For a full list of the participating galleries, please visit www.ginza-galleries.com/yakai (in Japanese).
