The best-selling French film of all time has finally finished its theater run and is available to rent. “Intouchables” sparked controversy on both sides of the Atlantic: Some critics couldn’t forgive the racist underpinnings (wealthy Parisian businessman in a wheelchair hires Senegalese caregiver), but many in France saw the story as a thawing of French racism, heralding a new age in equality en verite — at least in the movies.
