The rainy season appears to have begun in most parts of Japan on Sunday, excluding the Hokuriku and Tohoku regions, the Meteorological Agency announced.
The Kanto-Koshin, Tokai and Kinki regions can expect wet and cloudy weather for about a month, the agency said.
The start is two days earlier than average for the first two areas but is about right for Kinki. It is four days earlier than last year for all three regions, according to the agency.
The rainy season has already started in the rest of Japan. Hokkaido does not have a rainy season.
