Fourteen people were injured Sunday when a double-decker horse-drawn wagon they were riding in overturned at a theme park in Hokkaido, police said.
The accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. in the Northern Horse Park in Tomakomai when two horses pulling the wagon bolted after the harness on one of the animals came off, police said.
Of the 19 people on the wagon, 14 sustained injuries, including one person whose pelvis was broken and another who received a broken rib.
According to the police, the horses apparently were frightened by the sound of the harness coming off. The ride normally lasts about 10 minutes.
