BRUGES, BELGIUM – Japan goalkeeper Daniel Schmidt conceded six goals in his first appearance for Sint-Truiden on Friday, as the Belgian top-division club lost 6-0 away to Club Brugge.
Schmidt, who transferred from J. League first-division team Vegalta Sendai last month, said he felt like he was taking on the home side alone at Jan Breydel Stadium.
The 27-year-old, who was born in the United States and raised in Japan, has earned five caps following his international debut last November and left Vegalta to hone his game overseas.
