Forward Shinji Okazaki will join Malaga in the Spanish second division, sources said Thursday.

A member of the Leicester City side that won the 2015-16 English Premier League title, the 33-year-old Okazaki had sought a move elsewhere in Europe after struggling for playing time last season.

An official announcement on the move by Okazaki, who has been without a team since the end of his contract with Leicester, is likely soon.

Okazaki, who is from Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, transferred from Shimizu S-Pulse in the J. League to then-German first-division club Stuttgart in 2011.

Following a stint with Mainz, he joined Leicester for the start of its premiership-winning campaign.

With 50 goals from 119 international games, Okazaki was a member of Japan's past three World Cup squads. He was among a handful of senior players to accompany Hajime Moriyasu's squad of Olympic hopefuls at the recent Copa America in Brazil.
