Tatsuma Yoshida has been named Ventforet Kofu's new manager, the J-League first-division team said Tuesday.

The 42-year-old Yoshida, who has had managed Kashiwa Reysol and Albirex Niigata, will replace Satoru Sakuma, who announced earlier this month his intention to focus on his role as general manager.

"This is a valuable challenge that comes with big responsibility," Yoshida said.

Kofu finished 14th in the 2016 season, managing to avoid relegation for the fourth straight season. They were 15th in the overall standings in 2013, 13th in 2014 and 13th in 2015.
