The Vietnam Football Federation announced the sacking of its senior and Under-23 team's manager Toshiya Miura on Thursday.

Miura failed to guide his U-23 side to this summer's Olympic Games after the team lost all three games to finish bottom of its preliminary round group at the U-23 Asian Championship in Qatar this month.

The Vietnamese senior side currently sits third in the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, four points behind second-place Iraq with two games to play in Group F. Vietnam will need to finish at least second to have any chance to progress.

Miura coached Omiya Ardija, Vissel Kobe and Ventforet Kofu in the J. League first division before he was appointed the manager of Vietnam in 2014.
