Reigning world champion Poland came from a set down to see off host nation Japan and close in on the title at the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Cup on Tuesday.

Michal Kubiak played a pivotal role in pulling Poland back into the game and Bartosz Kurek led his team with 18 points in the 24-26, 27-25, 25-21, 25-19 win.

Yuki Ishikawa paced Japan with 24 points.

Table-topping Poland improved to 10-0 with 29 points, while Japan, which plays Russia on the final day of the tournament on Wednesday, dropped to 5-5 with 15 points.

Italy beat Argentina in full sets and has a 9-1 mark with 26 points.

The top two teams at the tournament qualify for next year's Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
