As impressive as the Kyoto Hannaryz have been at home this season, they are a superb team on the road, too.

On Sunday, Kyoto improved to 18-4 in away contests, beating the Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix 75-69 to complete a series sweep.

The Western Conference-leading Hannaryz (37-7) have won 11 of their past 12 games.

University of California product Ryan Forehan-Kelly paced Kyoto with 26 points, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Reggie Warren added 16 points and eight boards and David Palmer chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds. Kevin Kotzur scored nine points and Shun Watanuki had six.

For Hamamatsu (34-10), Mo Charlo was the high scorer wit 19 points. Olu Ashaolu and Nile Murry scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, Jermaine Green had nine and Shingo Okada seven before an announced crowd of 5,611 at Hamamatsu Arena.

HeatDevils 72, Golden Kings 69

In Oita, well-traveled veteran guard Naoto Takushi had 18 points and four steals against his former club as the HeatDevils earned a weekend split.

Oita (16-28) had lost its first three games against the defending champions this season.

Takushi, 33, played for the Golden Kings from 2007-09.

Kellen Thornton scored 15 points and vacuumed up 14 rebounds for the hosts, who led 37-33 at halftime.

Ryuichi Kishimoto and Kibwe Trim both had 17 points for Ryukyu (36-8). Naoto Kosuge scored 10 points and Narito Namizato had eight. Anthony McHenry added six points, 14 rebounds and five assists.

Wat's 77, Broncos 58

In Kuroishi, Aomori Prefecture, center Paul Williams scored 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting and Gordon Klaiber had a 15-point afternoon as the Wat's cruised past Saitama.

Kyle Richardson had 12 points and Makoto Sawaguchi poured in 10 for Aomori (23-21).

Gary Johnson led the Broncos (4-38) with 19 points. Nyika Williams finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and eight turnovers.

Saitama has lost nine consecutive games.

89ers 86, B-Corsairs 82

In Sendai, the one-two punch of Kejuan Johnson and Jeral Davis sparked the 89ers to their second victory in as many days over Yokohama.

Johnson had 31 points, including 10-for-14 at the free-throw line, 11 rebounds and six assists. Davis scored 27 points and blocked eight shots.

Adrian Moss had 14 points and Fumiya Sato scored 10 for Sendai (30-14), which extended its winning streak to eight games.

The 89ers are 19-5 at home.

Warren Niles finished with 28 points and 19 rebounds for Yokohama (11-31) and Carl Hall had 23 points and 10 boards. Wayne Marshall scored 10 points and Masayuki Kabaya had nine.

Firebonds 84, Crane Thunders 64

In Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture, the Firebonds bolstered their playoff hopes with a series sweep against Gunma.

The top eight teams in both conferences quality for the postseason, and Fukushima (16-28), a first-year franchise, sits in eighth place, with eight games remaining, in the 12-team East.

Edward Morris had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Firebonds, who led 42-38 at halftime. Verdell Jones III chipped in with 20 points and eight assists. Masaya Karimata played all 40 minutes and contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block, while Shota Kanno had a 12-point outing, knocking down 4 of 6 3s.

James Hughes supplied eight points and 12 rebounds for the hosts.

Carlos Dixon scored 24 points for the Crane Thunders (15-27), who are ninth in the East. Daniel Northern Jr. had 12 points and 12 boards, and ex-NBA big man Melvin Ely scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Grouses 94, Northern Happinets 82

In Toyama, Jamelle Horne, a University of Arizona alum, had a 21-point performance and Sam Willard added 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Grouses to a two-game sweep against East rival Akita.

Takeshi Mito poured in 13 points, Tatsunori Fujie had 12 points and five assists, and Joe Werner and Masashi Joho added 11 and nine points, respectively.

Toyama (31-13) turned the ball over just eight times. Akita coughed it up 16 times.

Deshawn Stephens paced the Northern Happinets (34-10) with 22 points and 11 rebounds and Shigehiro Taguchi scored 21 points. Yuto Otsuka had 12 points.

Akita has lost back-to-back games four times this season under first-year coach Makoto Hasegawa.

Big Bulls 77, Brave Warriors 75

In Ueda, Nagano Prefecture, Iwate trailed Akita by one game in the standings entering this weekend, but two wins over Shinshu coupled with Toyama's aforementioned sweep over the Happinets put the Big Bulls alone atop the East.

For Iwate (35-9), Lawrence Blackledge, who had a triple-double on Saturday, continued his inspired play in the series finale with 21 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and three assists. Wayne Arnold netted 18 points, Masato Tsukino scored 15 and Scootie Randall had 13. Tsubasa Yonamine dished out seven assists.

DeVaughn Washington notched a double-double (23 points, 12 rebounds) for Shinshu (18-24). Mohamed Abukar scored 21 points and Patrick Sanders had 19. Takato Saito handed out five assists.

Rizing 76, Lakestars 74

In Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Fukuoka eked out a down-to-the-wire win over the Lakestars to salvage a series split.

Cyrus Tate, a University of Iowa alum, had a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Rizing (12-32). Josh Peppers finished with 16 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three blocks, Hajime Ono scored 12 points and John "Helicopter" Humphrey had 10.

After Shiga drained 11 of 21 3s in the series opener, Rizing coach Joe Bryant's team held the hosts to 6 of 21 in the rematch.

Terrance Woodbury led the Lakestars with 22 points and four assists, and also hauled in 10 rebounds. Ray Nixon had 16 points and Jeff Parmer added 14 points and 12 boards. Yu Okada and Yutaka Yokoe scored eight points apiece.

Evessa 73, Susanoo Magic 70

In Osaka, Josh Dollard's game-high 30 points and five assists lifted the Evessa past Shimane.

Osaka (25-19) overcame a 53-45 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Takuya Soma scored 13 points and Seth Tarver had 10 for the Evessa. Gary Hamilton grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

For the Susanoo Magic (16-28), Edward Yamamoto scored 18 points and Bingo Merriex had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tatsuhiro Yokoo (13 points) and Joe Chapman (11) were the team's other double-digit scorers.

Shimane lost both weekend games by three-point margins.

Five Arrows 87, Bambitious 61

In Takamatsu, the Five Arrows outscored Nara 29-9 in the third quarter to turn a close contest into a rout.

Justin Watts paced Takamatsu (13-31) with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting and B.J. Puckett had 17 points. Andrais Thornton chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Dexter Lyons had 14 points, nine boards, seven assists and three steals. Hiroyuki Kikuchi scored eight points.

Michael St. John led Nara (12-32) with 16 points and nine rebounds and Chehales Tapscott scored 15 points.

The Bambitious, who have lost their last three games, were held to 24-for-73 shooting.
