After the IOC rubber-stamped IOC president Thomas Bach's "Agenda 2020" that will lead to a shake-up in the Olympic movement not witnessed in decades, positive reactions reverberated across Japan as it prepares for the 2020 Tokyo Games in less than six years.

"Being able to co-host with the proactive use of existing facilities and being permitted to have the right to propose additional events as the host city is very meaningful for the progress of preparing for the games," said Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee chairman Yoshiro Mori, adding that the events to be proposed have not been decided.

As part of the 40 approved reforms, host cities will be able to propose one or more additional events for their games — opening the road for bids from baseball/softball, karate and squash to be included on the program.
