CHERRY, HILLS VILLAGE COLORADO – Hideki Matsuyama qualified for next week’s Tour Championship after finishing 20th with a 4-under 276 at the BMW Championship on Sunday.
The result left Matsuyama 28th in the FedEx Cup standings. The top 30 appear in the Tour Championship starting Thursday, which allowed Matsuyama to also book a spot at the Masters, British Open, U.S. Open and the Cadillac Championship next season.
“It’s a massive deal,” Matsuyama said of qualifying for three majors and a World Golf Championships event. “I like to think of being able to play in the final event of the season as a reward for all the hard work I’ve put in this year.”
