Tokyo will likely host the 2018 or 2019 World Judo Championships as part of the buildup to the 2020 Olympics, International Judo Federation President Marius Vizer said Tuesday.

"Paris and Tokyo are candidates," Vizer said, when asked which cities could host the competition in the future. "They will probably host it again in 2018 or 2019. It should be a way to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics."

Vizer is a member of the International Olympic Committee's Coordination Commission for the Tokyo Games. Tokyo last held the judo worlds in 2010.
