Kei Nishikori is set to make his first Davis Cup appearance in a year after the world No. 12 was named Tuesday to Japan's team for its World Group playoff against Colombia.

Go Soeda, Yuichi Sugita and Tatsuma Ito were also named to the team for the Sept. 13-15 tie at Ariake Colosseum.

Nishikori, who was upset by British qualifier Daniel Evans on the opening day of the U.S. Open last month, missed Japan's Davis Cup ties against Indonesia in February and South Korea in April due to fitness issues.

World No. 85 Santiago Giraldo, Alejandro Falla, Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farrah were picked for Colombia.
