Yokohama F. Marinos striker Marquinhos won't be scoring for at least the next two games.

The former J. League MVP, who has been on fire this spring with six goals in four games, received a two-match ban on Thursday for arguing with the referee after he was sent off in Marinos' 1-0 Nabisco Cup win the previous night.

Marquinhos scored the 83rd-minute winner but was booked for a second time immediately afterward for doffing his shirt to celebrate.

The former Kashima Antler let referee Masaaki Iemoto know he took issue with the decision before heading to the dressing rooms, an action the J. League deemed excessive and that merited an extra game.

The Brazilian will miss Saturday's Nabisco Cup away tie at Ventforet Kofu and the March 30 home game against FC Tokyo in the league.
