Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka headlines a field that features eight players currently in the top 10 of the world rankings for the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo in September, tournament organizers said Thursday.

The top-ranked 22-year-old from Belarus will be joined by Tokyo crowd favorite and world No. 2 Maria Sharapova as well as the likes of Petra Kvitova and defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska in the $2 million event at Ariake Tennis Forest Park from Sept. 23 to 29.
