World Cup referee Yuichi Nishimura has been assigned the Asian Champions League final next month at Tokyo's National Stadium, the Asian Football Confederation announced Friday.

Nishimura will be the first Japanese to referee the ACL final, which this year will be held Nov. 13 between South Korea's Seongnam Ilhwa and Zob Ahan of Iran.

The 38-year-old Nishimura refereed four matches at the World Cup in South Africa this summer, including the quarterfinal between the Netherlands and Brazil. He was also the fourth official for the Uruguay-Netherlands semifinal and the final won by Spain over the Dutch.

The four games were the most assigned to a Japanese referee at the World Cup.
