KOBE (Kyodo) Relegation-haunted Vissel Kobe have sacked manager Toshiya Miura and replaced him with assistant coach Masahiro Wada, the J-League first-division club said Sunday.

Miura's dismissal followed Saturday's 3-0 defeat to 17th-place Kyoto Sanga, a result that left Vissel third from bottom with 21 points from five wins, six draws and 11 defeats.

The 47-year-old Miura took over in August last season and helped Kobe narrowly avoid the drop to J2, finishing in 14th place in the 18-team table.

Wada, 45, was caretaker for a month last season before Miura was appointed. He will take charge of the team for Saturday's trip to Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
