WOLFSBURG, Germany (Kyodo) Makoto Hasebe notched his first goal of the season as VfL Wolfsburg bounced back from its German Cup second-round exit in midweek with a 4-2 win over Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Zvjezdan Misimovic opened the scoring after just eight minutes. Hanno Balitsch leveled in the 28th before Christian Gentner made it 2-1 for the hosts on the stroke of halftime.

Hasebe, making only his second league start of the season, headed Edin Dzeko's cross into the corner to double the lead three minutes after the restart.

Alexander Madlung's own goal in the 50th minute gave Hannover hope but Dzeko secured the points with the fourth.

"It was a great ball in and it was just a case of me connecting with it," Hasebe said of his goal. "I want to keep playing well and earn the trust of the team."
