J. League first-division club Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday signed Japanese forward/midfielder Masakatsu Sawa from Peruvian side Cienciano.

Sawa, a 25-year-old Chiba Prefecture native, joined the youth system of Argentina powerhouse River Plate in 2002 and played for four different Peruvian clubs over four seasons after moving to the country in 2005.

With his impressive performance with Deportivo Municipal, he was named the Peruvian League’s foreign player of the year in 2007.

Kashiwa, however, did not reveal any details of Sawa’s contract.
