KAWASAKI – Former Japan international Naoki Soma will end his playing career after the current J. League season, first-division club Kawasaki Frontale said Thursday.
Soma joined Kashima Antlers from Waseda University in 1994 and helped the Ibaraki club win the league title four times. The 34-year-old midfielder also played for Tokyo Verdy in 2002 and Kawasaki from 2004-2005.
A member of Japan’s 1998 World Cup squad in France, Soma was capped 59 times and scored four goals for Japan.
