Miyazato, who won her first domestic title of the year with an eight-shot victory at last week's Vernal Ladies, birdied the final hole to clinch a playoff spot and then sank a birdie putt on the first extra hole to beat Australian Nikki Campbell in steady rain.

Miyazato and Campbell finished the regulation 54 holes tied at 7-under 209 at Chukyo Golf Club, one stroke ahead of Hiroko Yamaguchi and 18-year-old amateur Shinobu Moromizato, who began the day with a one-shot advantage over Campbell.

"It was the first playoff of my career, making me very nervous, and my hands were shaking when I was standing over the putt in the playoff," Miyazato said.
