Miyazato, who won her first domestic title of the year with an eight-shot victory at last week’s Vernal Ladies, birdied the final hole to clinch a playoff spot and then sank a birdie putt on the first extra hole to beat Australian Nikki Campbell in steady rain.

Miyazato and Campbell finished the regulation 54 holes tied at 7-under 209 at Chukyo Golf Club, one stroke ahead of Hiroko Yamaguchi and 18-year-old amateur Shinobu Moromizato, who began the day with a one-shot advantage over Campbell.

“It was the first playoff of my career, making me very nervous, and my hands were shaking when I was standing over the putt in the playoff,” Miyazato said.

TAMANO, Okayama Pref. (Kyodo) Hiroyuki Fujita held off his closest pursuers with three straight birdies on the front nine and held on to win the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup by three shots for his fifth career tour victory Sunday.
