AMAGI, Fukuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Ai Miyazato set herself up for her first victory of the year on the Japan LPGA tour Saturday after breaking the course record with an 8-under-par 64 to open up a six-stroke lead at the Vernal Ladies.

Miyazato had eight birdies on her way to 11-under 133 after two rounds.

Mikiyo Nishizawa fired a 65 and charged into a tie for second at 5-under 139 with Australian Tamie Durdin, who had a 66.

Ho goes two up

TAMANA, Kumamoto Pref. (Kyodo) Defending champion S.K. Ho of South Korea shot a 5-under-par 67 Saturday to hold a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Japan PGA Championship.

Ho birdied three of the first five holes and picked up two more strokes on the back nine as he carded a 13-under 203 after three rounds.

Hiroyuki Fujita, who shot a 69, and overnight leader Hideto Tanihara, who had a 70, are tied for second on 205.
